An unsatisfactory choice of direction

Every year, the orientation of more than 3.5 million students and graduates is a real problem. According to a study by tonavenir.com, 80% of students are not satisfied with the path they have chosen. Moreover, 22% of students leave university after their first year, 6% abandon their studies and 10% reorient themselves after a year at university. These choices of direction reflect a lack of information on studies and jobs after the baccalaureate. Students have a poor image of the jobs available and the current job market.

Lack of knowledge

Some professionals have difficulties in finding candidates due to a lack of vision and knowledge about the profession. In addition, there is only one guidance counselor from the National Education for about 1,600 students. Thus, due to lack of quality, students from privileged backgrounds go to private guidance counselors for orientation. Today, there are many sites to help with orientation. However, they are not recognized, and they propose blocked professions and not professions with a future. Thus, there is no global and recognized site for career guidance.

The concept of Reveal

The concept of this application is to be able to build a career plan step by step: after an initial meeting with the guidance counsellor, the student registers on the application and indicates his or her personality traits. The application gives them sectors of activity that they can select according to their tastes. Once they have chosen their sectors of activity, they choose the job families. To help him select them, he can follow live broadcasts and videos of professionals. The latter answer questions and show their daily lives. Once the user has chosen the job families, the application proposes training courses. Once the user has selected different courses, he or she can meet with the guidance counsellor to finalise the project.

An immersive and dynamic approach

The use of the app is similar to Tinder or Instagram. It is very simple, dynamic, and breaks the codes of the school. Thus, students are all the more motivated to seek their orientation. In addition, the lives of professionals allow students to immerse themselves in the profession.

A beneficial solution for 3 consumers

This solution is beneficial for the students who will be able to discover and choose their orientation, for the guidance counsellors who will save time and be able to give quality advice and finally for the professionals who will be able to give visibility to their company and give a better image of their profession.

The approach

To design this service as close as possible to the users, I started by interviewing students, public guidance counselors, private guidance counselors, and professionals. This allowed me to create personas. I then developed a user flow and the first wireframes, which I tested with my users. This allowed me to improve my wireframes and design better usability of my application. Finally, I did a new user test to check the modifications and have them validated by my target.

Registration

The application starts with a registration that is done in advance with your guidance counsellor

Monitoring

After the user has registered and taken a personality test, the application suggests sectors of activity that might interest us.

Meeting with professionals

In order to discover a profession, one can see live performances as well as ask questions to professionals.

The application for professionals

The application should be easy to use for professionals. It should also facilitate interaction with students without wasting their valuable time.
